Christian Education and Youth Board
Mission:
Promote continued spiritual growth and Christian education opportunities for the First Church community.
Membership:
Eight members elected at the annual meeting with at least one member from each constituent society from slate of nominees recruited by the Nominating Committee.
Responsibilities and Activities:
Church School (Sunday School for Church Youth) |
- Develop and implement Christian education opportunities.
- Hire and/or recruit leaders.
- Periodically review existing curricula, search for and evaluate new curricula, and/or oversee revisions of existing curricula.
- Support the leaders in recruiting teachers.
- Support teacher training.
- Act as a resource for teacher requests and issues.
- Support the planning and production of special events, e.g. the Christmas pageant and Children’s Sunday.

Youth Programs (Older Youth and Teenage)
|
- Develop and implement Christian education opportunities.
- Hire and/or recruit leaders and adult volunteer assistants.
- Support the leaders in program development and focus.
- Act as a resource for youth requests and issues.
- Oversee development of Confirmation Program.
- Support the planning and production of special events, e.g. youth-lead and intergenerational worship services.

Adult Education |
- Develop and implement Christian education opportunities.
- Hire and/or recruit program leaders.
- Periodically conduct needs identification.
- Act as a resource for seminars, Bible study, and adult retreats.
- Promote participation.

Paid Leaders
|
- Evaluate performance annually.
- Submit salary recommendations.
|
|
Budget and Annual Report
|
- Form and submit an annual budget that includes all programs.
- Produce an Annual Report of activities.
- Provide an accounting for all funds, monies, and accounts.
