FIRST CHURCH INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND YOUTHSunday Church School Teacher and assistants for all ages are utilized on a rotating team basis, each team teaching a "unit" of several weeks. There are non-teaching volunteer tasks as well, coordinated by the Sunday School Committee. Ingrid Holmes is the Sunday School Director. Junior High Fellowship A Sunday evening program of Christian learning, fun and outreach for 7th and 8th graders. Volunteers can help with programs, retreats and transportation. Lee Atherton is in charge of the program, assisted by several volunteer advisors. Senior High Fellowship A weekly Sunday evening program for high schoolers, that tries to include a balance of the four elements of church life for teens: worship, education, fellowship, and service to others. Lee Atherton is in charge of the program, assisted by several advisors. Volunteers can help with programming and in various support roles. Communion Class This three session experiential learning event is held once a year to introduce sixth grade and older youth to the meaning of this central part of Christian worship. Included is an authentic Jewish Seder or Passover Meal. Jonathan Wright-Gray is the leader. Confirmation A year long program of experiential learning and preparation for church membership usually offered to 9th graders. Adult mentors are assigned to each young person as "learning partners". Other adults can help in support roles. The minister Jonathan Wright-Gray leads the program. . Adult Education Periodic short term study groups, on going small groups, and occasional one time programs are offered on a wide range of topics.
